Mario's Galactic Adventure Trailer Arrives, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo alongside Illumination released the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. The reveal happened in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
The sequel to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the far corners of the galaxy. There, he will encounter a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Space-Faring Quest Inspired by Classic Games
Similar to the games from the Wii period that provide its foundation, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some well-known personalities, such as the Luma, a popular character from the first movie.
Yet it looks like Mario and his sibling Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Interestingly, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Returns and Expands
The feature will feature once again of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. It was announced by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
A Significant Period for Mario
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is planned to debut near the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 promises to be a significant year for Mario and his companions.
Nintendo confirmed three new games officially announced for the upcoming year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
